piece of cake. 5 minute job tops. Clean head and cylinder to help prevent dirt from entering the cylinder. remove spark plug and use kick starter to move piston to tdc or close to it. Loosen 4 head retaining nuts 1/4 turn each before removing them. Remove head and gasket. Wipe area clean and install new gasket. Snug the bolts then torque them to 7ft-lbs in a x pattern like lugs on a wheel. Insert spark plug and enjoy.

Thanks for the info is TDC when the compression stroke "Piston" is at the top of the head closes to the spark plug? So I can put my finger in the spark plug hole and use the kick start to move it till it push my finger off the hole. Thanks for the tips on loosening the head and the right foot pounds for the torque.
Now the issue is getting a gasket due to the lead law it's hard to find parts.

yes. TDC the piston is at the top of the cylinder. You can usually look through the plug hole. It's not critical for head gasket replacement it just helps keep dirt and stuff from entering the cylinder.

Scott is it common for these to leak at the head or is this a greater issue, the bike sat for 5 years.
