I just bought a 2000 PW50 for my 6y/o son. After getting home and starting it up it sounded good, when I switch it to run from start it runs wide open. Could this be an electrical issue or? ?

Sound like it take the number late off the front un plug the white connectors the off switch should still work but you should not have to put in Start and then run it should just go. Also check the throttle cable .

I had that exact problem with my 03, and it ended up being the fuel filter. Pull the fuel lines from the petthingy and remove filter. It is on the intake side of the petthingy and it white, just push it out and clean it.

I didnot type petthingy. It's a fuel shut-off valve.

I had the same problem with my PW50 and i took off the carb and it turned out to be the throttle was stuck wide open in the carb, the choke was abit jammed, just an old carb, bought a brand new carb, new cables and it runs amazing.
