I pulled a '96 pw80 out of the scrap heap. It was sitting in pieces for a few years. I ended up installing a new crankshaft, main bearings, crank seals, center case and clutch cover gasket, piston, rings, cylinder, cylinder base and head gaskets.
I could not find the oem airbox so I bought a clamp on foam filter with a prefilter on it.
The exhaust is stock with the washer removed.
The carb was torn apart soaked in cleaner, and reassembled. Float was set per the manual.
After putting it all together it start easily, idles great, but seems to lack power. I could not give the bike full throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear. It would just bog down severely. I changed the main jet from 125 to 115 and it will now accept full throttle in the upper gears but it really doesn't pull well. Downhill or flat is ok, uphill, forget it. It goes in 1st gear just fine.
There is a little bog down low too. I tried a larger pilot jet but that isn't helping.

Just figured I'd mention a little more about what was done:
Fuel tank drained. Petthingy removed and cleaned. Auto oil injection system disabled (gear removed from pump) hose to carb is blocked off. Fuel is mixed 32:1
With the stock pilot jet in there it idles fine. When I adjust the pilot screw to achieve the fastest idle, then turn down the idle screw to get it back down and go for a ride, it will not pull at all. If I turn the pilot screw in almost the whole way, about 1/2 a turn out, it will pull much better. But, I have to adjust the idle higher with the idle screw.
I switched to a larger pilot jet (25 or so, can't remember off hand) and it didn't help.
It had a 125 main jet in it. Dropping it to a 115 made it pull better at full throttle but it still doesn't feel right. Seems like it should have more get up 'n go all around. I've ridden stock ones before that ran better than this.

i have the same exact problem, it runs good after changing the jet to a 95, idles great an runs good but only first gear , there is no power in second gear, when i bougth it it had a 115 jet with an ugly wire inside it, had lot of trouble to turn it on, at that moment. please i need some advice, it comes stock with a 120jet, and 125 or 130 option, getting back to this jet will work?
