I have a 1998 PW80. Put on a new carb, Boysen reeds, new rings and gaskets. The engine sarts and idles fine but then it starts to rev up on its own. Gas leaks out of the overflow tube and it bogs down at full throttle. The motor wants to wind up and it will sometimes at half throttle. Any ideas?

sounds like it could be a jet or needle valve is not properly seating in the carb to shut off the flow of gas. My sons bike was doing that so I took the carb apart and bent the tab just a little. That way, when the bowl fills with gas the float is bent down and puts extra pressure to help it seat.

Devin can you tell me how many noches down from the top of the needle should the stock setting be for the needle? Mine is two down now but it was at three when I rebuilt mine.

Thanks Devin. Bending the tab on the float fixed the gas leaking issue. I sill can't figure out why its bogging down at full throttle.

So does the bike run fine then bogg down at the very top end if so that is the REV limiter kicking in. It also sounds like your float needs to be adjusted. I had to play with the float for a few days to get it right.
The noches down should be 2 for stock.
