Some vendors list the aftermarket shocks as 1,2 mm under 22,3..22,5 mm. That is somewhat hard to figure out since AFAIK the forks are 22 mm in diameter.
I got a PW for my then 4 YO about a year ago. He has ridden it a lot. The original cylinder was worn out, so I got a 60 cc kit for it. Nice boost in torque. But as he practiced more the limits of the suspension were found. Front forks are pretty much shot and now that he managed to break the race from the lower steering thrust bearing I got him a KTM 50 SX.. The PW was just getting downright dangerous. Seemed like no point trying to build the PW up to spec since the KTM already has far superior suspension with USD forks and a rear to match.
My younger son is now 3 YO and I was thinking of rebuilding the PW for him if he wants to start riding too. But I need front forks. Are there aftermarket forks available with 22 mm diameter or are all a bit above 21 mm? Sure I think I could shim those to fit the triple clamps, but if I can find ones that fit it would naturally be a better option.
Despite, or because, the shortcomings in the suspension the PW is a great bike to start riding with. Over bumps you just have to stand on the pegs and really actively ride the bike. Now that my older son rides on the KTM, he doesn't just rely on the suspension to soak the bumps. The watercooled KTM is a pretty wild bike with lots of power. After my son first tried it I asked if we should tame the engine a bit. He said no way, because he can do wheelies with it Even though he is only 5 and therefore a bit on the short side for a KTM the PW has built him the confidence to ride the KTM just fine.
