just bought my 4 year old a new 08 pw 50 today. what do i need to do to remove the oil injection? my older boy rides a ktm 50 and i got rid of it on his, however this bikes tube runs to some sort of a control box. i'd rather run premix on both. thanx for your help.

I'm new to the whole PW50 thing, what is the advantage of removing the oil injection system? Power gain? Weight saving? I would thing it makes things easy, Right!?!?

Pulling the oil injection and running premix is a good way to ensure that the engine always gets oil. Not saying that oil injections fail (honda) but it only needs to happen to you once and you will understand,

Oh and Im not sure if there is some sort of low oil protection on the newer pw's but all I did on ours is stop filling the oil container on the bike. Instant oil injection system removal of sorts! and when you go to sell the bike you should be able to fill it back up and it will look like it has been factory all the way.

As allbros said. The easiest way is to stopp filling the oil tank and instead put in the gas. When I overhauled my old -81 PW, I noticed that the pump didn't rotate as smooth that I wanted. And when I bought it, the oil tank was empty, so I couldn't be sure of that it was working. So, I took the long way... - Removed the oil tank and oil line from the tank to the pump. - Removed the cable (from where it splits into two under the tank). - Removed the line between pump and carb. Plugged the holes. - Removed the gear on the the transmission shaft. - Put oil in gas. - Ran like hell! My oil line between oil tank and oil pump does not go by any control box. I don't know if there were any changes on later year models. I don't find it to likely that the oil line passes by a control box. What should it do? Cut ignition? I find that hard to believe. But, I've been wrong before... ;D

Simply empty the oil out and put premix in both the oil tank and fuel tank. Does anyone happen to know the ratio Yamaha recommends?
