I just bought a PW50 and the owner didn't know what year it is. How can I tell?

give me the 10th letter or number of the serial # on the head tube and I'll tell you what year it is.

2002. letters were used from '81 to 2000 then they switched to #'s. 1='01 2=02 etc.

what year would it be if it says 4x4-216048? I too have one with a 4x4 vin. I have been told by a local dealer that it is an 80 or 81, even he was not quite sure. |
