I put gas and ether down the cylinder, I checked compression with my finger, I don't have my compression tester. I did clean the carb.

I have a 2005 that is experiencing the exact same thing, except mine seems to intermittently start up just fine. I'm going to remove and clean the carb tonight, and do a compression test.
I've seen several people say that they don't own a compression test tool. I called my local AutoZone and they have a tool loaner program. All you do is put down a deposit, use the tool, then return it whenever you're done and they refund your money. If you're like me, I don't use highly specialized tools that often so this is a great option for those seldom-use tools.

I put a new cylinder and piston in and it will barely start and immediately dies. I have the carb adjusted out 1 1/2 turns. Not really sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

take the silencer off for one. also there are two adjusters that you can have 1-1/2 out one is the idle one is the airscrew the airscrew is the smaller of the two make sure that is the one you have adjusted once that is set adjust the idle with the other. sounds like its staving for fuel try these two things and let us know brad

I opted for the next one up for $24 which also has several different adapters. You can even use a 20% coupon to bring the price down a bit more. Definetly worth it.
